Djibouti (HOL) — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has
arrived in Djibouti’s capital for an official visit aimed at strengthening
relations with the neighboring Republic of Djibouti.
During his visit, President Mohamud is scheduled to hold
talks with President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, focusing on reinforcing the
longstanding ties and strategic cooperation between the two nations. The
discussions will address key areas including security, economic collaboration, political
coordination, and broader regional stability.
Djibouti has played a prominent role in supporting Somalia’s
peace and recovery efforts since the collapse of the Somali state. The country
has hosted numerous reconciliations conferences and remains an active
contributor to the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia
(AUSSOM).
Djiboutian troops, deployed under AUSSOM, continue to play a
critical role in maintaining security—particularly in central Somalia —and
supporting the Somali government’s efforts to restore peace and stability.
