Mogadishu (HOL) – A coalition of ten political parties under
the Coalition for the Restoration of Justice and Hope in Somalia has rejected
the final communiqué of the recently concluded National Consultation Forum in
Mogadishu, accusing the federal government of sidelining inclusive dialogue and
undermining constitutional legitimacy.
In a press release issued on Friday, the coalition
criticized President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud for allegedly violated constitutional
process, warning of a deepening political crisis and the potential collapse of
Somalia’s fragile state institutions.
The parties said they held a national conference in
Mogadishu to address the current political impasse, the weakening of
constitutional order, and what they described as a growing threat to the
country's governance framework.
They called political unity and the restoration of inclusive
electoral processes, a reaffirmation of support for the negotiated federal
constitution.
The coalition also rejected the legitimacy of the National
Consultation Forum, arguing that it violated prior political agreements and was
turned into a platform to consolidate one-party dominance.
“The conference held in Mogadishu, hosted by President
Hassan Sheikh, is illegal, non-inclusive, and a clear deviation from the
political consensus previously agreed upon by Somali stakeholders,” the
statement read.
While the forum brought together former presidents, federal
and state officials, and influential Somali leaders, it was notably boycotted
by key opposition parties and Puntland authorities, who cited procedural
irregularities and exclusionary tactics by the federal government.
