Galkacyo (HOL) - A group of gunmen killed Siyad Ali Hirsi,
one of the most prominent businessmen in Galkayo town, on Tuesday morning.
The killing is linked to the ongoing clan conflicts in the
city. Hirsi belonged to one of the two clans that recently clashed in the
Horumar neighborhood, violence that left two people dead.
A woman was also injured in Tuesday’s attack. The gunmen
fled the scene, while security forces arrived shortly afterward.
Clan violence in northern Galkayo has escalated, with
civilians increasingly becoming targets. Just days ago, Dr. Omar Abdi Daahir
was killed during clashes in the city.
The Mudug Regional Administration and local intellectuals
have so far failed to find a solution to the conflict, which many residents say
has reached a deadlock.
